APRIL 29, 2017 in SARNIA: Signposts & Traces: Ash Tree Memorial Trail Performance. Join local artist Mary Abma, and community performers (poet Debbie Okun Hill, Kelly Kiyoski, Missy Burgess, storyteller David D Plain, Wavesong Vocal Ensemble, and dancers/drummer from Aamjiwnaang First Nation), as they come together to eulogize the Ash trees that have been devastated by the emerald ash borer in Lambton County. Attend the performance at the Canatara Park pavilion at 10 a.m., then Walk the trail at 11 a.m., contemplate the loss of the trees, leave offerings at each site, and use the QR codes at each stop to view each tree’s memorial page. Then stop by the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, where the artifacts made by Abma in commemoration of each tree with be on display. See poster below:

APRIL 6, 2017 in OSHAWA: Congratulations to Poet John Di Leonardo who had two of his nude studies accepted for The Oshawa Art Association 50th Juried Art Exhibition to be held at The Robert MacLaughlin Art Gallery. The selected work from his series focusing on “the transience of beauty and body” theme included “Above the Garden” and “After the Garden” (both 18″ X 24″/ graphite).  The opening reception and awards will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the gallery.
