NOVEMBER 6, 2014 in BRIGDEN: “Exploring the Five Senses” WRITING WORKSHOP hosted by the Brigden Library 7 to 9 p.m. Discover how sight, sounds, smell, taste and touch can add sparkle and sizzle to your written work. This FREE two-hour writing workshop (presented by Lambton County writer Debbie Okun Hill) is filled with zany exercises aimed at stimulating your creative juices. Each participant will be required to bring a pen, paper, a favourite piece of fruit and a vivid imagination. Prior writing experience is not required.

OCTOBER 28, 2014 in SARNIA: “Dialogue Harvestibule”, a showing of monologues performed by theatre major Michael Janssen will take place at 7:30 p.m.at the Sarnia Library Theatre Auditorium. The monologues will be derived from such theatrical plays as “7 Stories”, “Thunderlizard” and “Henry IV” and such authors as Sharron Pollock, Jim Cartwright, Hermen Voaden and Eli. There will also be context driven introductions to the monologues, a clown performance and a reading of a manifesto. Michael (Mike) Janssen is a local artist who studied drama arts for five years. He is a poet, playwright, lyricist, singer who performs with a local rock band and recently won the poetry slam that was held in Sarnia in the spring. He loves theatre and the world of words and the stage. More info here.

Each speaker is given a five-minute presentation on a topic of his/her choice. McCarthy’s talk is titled “CASE 666 – the story of Elizabeth Workman”. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts on Christina Street. The event starts at 7 p.m. with a fun ice-breaker game; presentations begin around 7:30 ish p.m.

Well-known Sarnia writer Norma West Linder will host the event. Readings by Shuquair and other local writers, book signing and refreshments.
