“When I look back at all the late nights writing in front of my keyboard, the endless trips to the post office, the piles of rejection letters, the doubts and fears, and the artist supplies collecting dust inside a musty basement cupboard, I realize a writer’s journey is not one for fame or money but for the love of creating word pictures.” — from the article “Starting Over” by Debbie Okun Hill first published in Ode to a Flattened Toad Sydenham Press 2007

This is what I do. This is what I love. Perhaps you too will find the courage to take that road less travelled.

Hello Debbie: It was great to see and hear you today. I believe you asked me to send you a Word Document on the publicity and registration information on the Cross Canada Poetrain
Tour. Your e-mail did not accept my e-mail, so it may have changed. Please send me the e-mail where you can be reached and I will send you this information. Cheers, Kent

Will include your FAVE photo in my next blog! Lots of news from the joint League of Canadian Poets and Writers’ Union of Canada conference held last month but have another deadline to meet first! 🙂

Thanks Mary. I discovered that blogging helps to increase the traffic to a website. However, it is time consuming, takes away from other writing, and doesn’t always increase book sales. You have to love blogging, and I do. I especially enjoy reading other people’s books and learning about different writing techniques.

Hi Debbie…this is totally kinesthetic me…I couldn’t really relate or understand websites until I actually made one and now as I go through your page and your work I see it differently….being kinesthetic surely has its drawbacks but once I have something under my belt it totally envelopes me. I am in awe that figured this all out by yourself and that you have believed in yourself and the love of the spoken and written word that you have never given up…I know that you may feel discouraged at times, but you have everything it is to walk the path of a very insightful and wonderful writer…Thank you for all that you do to support and enlighten the writing and poeting community…Love and blessings always…Anne

Thank you Anne for stopping by and sharing your kind words. Yes, being a writer is like riding a roller-coaster. And certainly being a writer during the COVID-19 pandemic has been most challenging. The best part about supporting a writing community is that we (as writers) are never alone. We all learn from each other. Stay safe and keep writing and believing in yourself.
